Hi guys,

Here is the deal: I just got a high end gaming rig and it appeared to me that the hardest part is picking a 24" screen that could give me the best out of my investment. Here are the specs of my rig:

Case:Antec P182
MOB: Asus P6T Deluxe
CPU: Intel Core i7 QUAD CORE 965 3.2GHz 8MB 130W
3 X Kingston DDR3-1333 2048MB
GPU: SLI 2 X XFX GeForce GTX 280 1GB
Primary Hard Drive: OCZ Core Series 128GB SATA II 2.5 inch SSD
Secondary Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar Green 1TB


Bottom line is that I have plenty of power in there to display a 24" in its native resolution. Then I started looking for a display and I litterally entered the LCD hell... well between the color gamut and the greys I must admit that I've learned a lot... but I just can't make a choice because there are so many parameters.

Since this a very active forum on the subject I hope to get my choice narowed down to at least two displays. Here are my main priorities:

1- This is a hardcore gaming LCD, so response times and lag input are my highest priorities... Since I am going to play online FPS I need 0 or close to 0 input lag.

2- Colors should be Vivid (I don't mind tweaking the industrial settings a bit) and the brightness should not hurt my eyes while using it on long gaming sessions, however I will settle for a TN since they have the lowest input lag.

3 - Price should not be over 600$ and the company should be reliable, I hear a lot of dead pixels and display issues with some of the models.

Finally since i am planning to take the screen overseas, any indication if the monitor can handle 220V would be helpful.

As you can tell, I don't really mind view angles, and connectivity...I am jus looking for the fastest, color friendly and most reliable screen out there.

If your considering using only a single monitor, then why not get a 30 inch monitor instead. Your rig is pretty much overkill on a 24 inch monitor. My advise would be to save up for a 30 inch monitor (dell or gateway) and while waiting to get that money, just use your old monitor. I'm sure you have an old LCD monitor.

You know its not because your rig can display 2560x1600, that you actually need to for a 30"er. I beleive from experience that the best sizes for gamers are 19" to 24" and even with that some players still consider 24" as too big.

I think that is has to do with your eyes getting tired when using u have a bigger moving screen on the long run.

Anyway I think I finally made my decision I am going for the Gateway® FHD2400 Simply because of its inexistant input lag and nice colors...

Now the next step will be calibrating it but thats another story,

I am still wondering however if the screen goes of with 220V if any of you guys out have any information it would be great.

220V? Why do u have 220V? For accurate monitor calibration, you may want to buy a professional monitor calibrating device. All I know is that it is used by professional photographers to have an exact match of colors between the image displayed on the monitor and the printed image. It is kinda costly though.

For free, just use color calibration stripes that could be found in the web or in some games.

I am going to have 220v because I am taking it to europe :)
