Hi all,

I'm considering purchasing 3x P2310Hs or 3x P2210Hs for an eyefinity setup. I'm a little worried about the image quality of the monitors though - I've been running an IPS panel based 2005FPW for the last 4 years and am concerned that the P2x10Hs will leave me a little wanting in the colour reproduction and viewing angle departments.

I've seen mixed reviews of the P2x10Hs on the Dell site and am unsure as to whether or not they're worth the jump. I'd very much appreciate it if someone could share their experiences of them, and whether or not it would be worth the extra money to get 2310Hs over the slightly cheaper 2210Hs.

Any response would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

/James

Since you have been spoiled with an IPS monitor. You may find it hard going to a TN based one, why not go for an IPS based one?

The new Hp ZR22w and ZR24W are brand new out IPS based monitors in 22" and 24" and are very reasonably priced!

I had contemplated the ZR22w for a short while, but Dell have got a deal on their SMB site with 20% off all monitors - the 2210H can be had for £155 (inc VAT and delivery) and the 2310Hs can be had for £177 (inc VAT and delivery). If you go through cash back websites like quidco, the total cost for 3 screens would vary between ~£430 and £500.

The cheapest I can find a ZR22w for is £222 - which is quite an increase on the base price of the Dells.

Seems like you have already decided. I personally wouldn't go for a 16:9 monitor for eyefinity. Really far too much width.

But if its any use i have a TN panel on my laptop and the viewing angles are rubbish but the general motion handling clarity and response times are excellent, this is coming from someone who owns multiple IPS monitors and a Kuro plasma.
So id say you cant go far wrong with any of the dells as long as you are aware that you wont get much beyond right infront of them without losing massive amounts of image quality.

I think you're right - I have pretty much have made my mind up on using the P2x10Hs due to being constrained by budget and time (the 20% off offer expires at the end of the month). If I hear that they're absolutely atrocious I may decide against eyefinity completely for the time being.

I'm considering buying just one of the P2x10Hs and seeing what I make of it, that way if it's terrible I'll only have one disappointing monitor, if it's good then I'll pick up the other two shortly after!

HP just released the ZR22w which is a 22" 1080p IPS monitor. Runs $289. Haven't seen any reviews yet. I'm interested in a smaller 1080p IPS monitor myself, and this is the only one I've found.

The 2x10s are good monitors as things go. If I was buying fresh, I'd give serious consideration to the ZR24w's, due x1200 and TN being a bit more pronounced in portrait mode (my setup).

If I was in landscape I wouldn't care as much. That said, I don't regret what I have at all.

i bought (3) P2210H refurbs from the outlet site.

they seem fine to me. however, i use it only as an eyefinity gaming machine.

but nothing wrong with colors, etc. i also have a bunch of high quality/high price monitors including the dell3007 on my other rig so i have seen both.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

My budget restricts me from the ZR24ws/ZR22ws, otherwise I'd be all over them :(

I'm still really torn though... I wish there was somewhere I could go to see them in the flesh to weigh up if I'd be happy with them. I might just have to take a punt.

I have 3x P2310H.

The viewing angle isn't an issue at all in landscape. It's slightly noticeable in portrait... but I never use portrait. As for color reproduction... I've never owned an IPS panel personally... but it varies so much between TN panels themselves (all the ones I've owned all display color slightly differently) that I find blanket statements about color reproduction very vague. Just set it with drivers / monitor settings to your likings IMO.
