I've been wanting a DTH2Go for a while and now that I've almost been able to save up to get one, I'm having second thoughts. I'm going to post the reasons I'm coming up with to not get one. What I need from you guys are reasons why I should. Maybe by the end of this I'll be able to commit one way or the other.

1. I'll be going from a primary viewing area of 1680 pixels to a primary viewing area of 1280. What I mean by that is even though I'm obviously getting a much wider viewing area with triple-head, all of my primary interface elements will still need to be right in front of me and crammed into a smaller space on the middle screen (triple-wide is not an option).

2. $300 is a good deal of money to spend on a device that does relatively little. Alternatively, I could purchase a new PS3 (I had to sell my old one to help pay for medical bills for my newborn daughter) or get the Logitec steering wheel and Saitek controller I've been wanting for about 2 years and still have $100 left over for more peripherals or games.

3. I like running everything at the highest visual settings I can. My Core 2 Duo and 8800gt are great for this at 1680x1050, but I'm worried that I'm going to have to sacrifice visual quality with the increased pixel count to the point that I am displeased with what I am seeing. As a point of reference, I can't play anything without at least 4xAA on. It drives me nuts to see the jagged lines in games. Yes, the visuals are that important to me.

So what do you guys think? If you had the options available to you that I have and/or the problems I'm having with justifying the purchase, which way would you go?

In your case, it might be better to just save up even longer so you can add 1680 x 1050 monitors in the future. Just buy them one at a time and get the th2go last.

I'd add a display every few months then finally get the TH2G last. It's how I did my recent build with 24s. I spread the display purchases over a year.

if u don't have 3 monitors already when u want triplehead?

triplehead is worth every cent if u have 3 monitors at ur disposal

8800gt WILL NOT run any 5040x1050 game with 4aa reason is it uses more than 512mb video ram and great than 1024mb video ram with gta4

u will need

1. 3 monitors
2. better video card e.g gtx285 + before u even consider running games at 5040x1050 with 4xaa

the only hardware that can run 5040x1050 well with aa is the 4870x2 2gb and yet it doesn't work at that rez lol!

I already have 3 19" monitors. I wouldn't even be bothering with this if I didn't.

Also, I already said triple wide wasn't an option.

Triple wide is 3 wide screen monitors. I have 3 4:3 monitors.
