Hi guys/gals

Recently i tried to move my computer further away from my th2g box and the 24 pin DVI cable that came with the unit was too short.

I decided to use a spare 2m 24pin DVI cable i had lying around and when i plugged it up (i tried 2 different cables) I got all these artifacts on my screens???

Is this because the cables r bad quality? anyone tried using different DVI cables other than the say 30 cm cables that come with the th2g?

thanks

Not to teach you to suck eggs, but they are definitely dual link DVI cables?

I use a longer (and good qual) one at the moment no probs.

I use the 6 foot Dual Link DVI cables from monoprice.com and they work great.

neosin,

I've recently had exactly the same issue with a DVI cable. I moved my computer around and used a spare 24pin DVI cable to connect the th2go. Afterwards all I got was a mess on screen. I though OMG what have I broken now, so I moved the computer back, plugged in the Matrox supplied cable and all was well. So I hadn't broken anything!

I double checked the 24 pin cable and found in tiny writing along its length that is was single link only! I went out and purchased a proper dual link cable (3m) and all is well.

I recommend just double checking the cable. If you have access to a continuity tester it might be worth while checking if those centre 9 pins are actually connected to anything. I would be willing to bet that they are not!

Best 'o luck though....

thanks for the replies

is this right?

DVI 3 Meter M-M 24+5 DVI Digital Dual Link Cable $9

i think mine were 24+1? this is 24+5?

would it make the signal worse when comparing a 1metre cable to say 3 metre cable?
