I love playing counterstrike source with my 2690wuxi with the native res, 1920x1200. But im used to 640x680 or 800x600 for more of a 'competative' level. The problem is that it gets 'twitchy', or choppy when i move, its like lag on lower res, whys that?

Your native resolution would be "competitive" allowed. I'm sorry but 640x480 and 800x600 are horrible resolutions for such a game now that we can do soo much better. What you're seeing is the result of No Vsync. Your video card at such low resolutions, is generating hundereds of frames per second more than what your monitor can display, and you're getting LOTS of tearing as little bits of each frame get sent before the frame is discarded entirely but not displayed entirely (this is called tearing). Either turn on Vsync, or use your native resolution. Trust me, you'll be a better player for it, you'll be able to see enemies a lot further away, and they won't just be a single stick of pixels in the distance.

No offense, but those resolutions should never be used again unless you have no other alternative. And competitive play no longer limits your resolution, nor should it have in the beginning.

I totally agree that those resolutions make the game look alot horrible compared to the lovly native res (especially with this screen).
The thing with counterstrike source is that lower res makes it easier to control 'spray' and easier to aim for alot of reasons which i wont go deeper into, so yes, lower res makes me a better player .
Its all about personal preference, and in this case my preference sucks i guess .

I'm fully aware of what tearing is, and its not what i'm talking about, its more like if the game is chopping when you turn around, like bad fps rate.
Vsync enabled will remove the tearing, true, but will create mouselag, which you dont want when you want to be fast.

I have experienced this problem with another screen aswell which got solved, but unfortunatly i dont remember how.
