Also if you want the latest drivers and TH2Go @ 5040 XP is still the way to go! My Vista is sitting in it's box since 185, and I am hoping this EF stuff gets sorted so I can upgrade to Win 7 :)

With the $29 academic Windows 7 64 Pro upgrade I'm definitely going Win 7. I'm just dreading what we might find out about the 5870 Six and adapters. I figure it's just another matter of to make it work throw shovels of money at it. Multiple $100 adapters for use with the 5870 Six is not sounding especially appealing at the moment. In order to get beyond that 3 screen barrier it might be the only option though.

It's time to put a bullet in xp once and for all my friend and install a modern OS. I can never understand why some people just cling to that old OS like an old blankie. Put down the xp and move away. ROFL.

XP is still damn fine & working even more so in x64 variations which rely on the very robust Win2k3 x64 kernel !
I see no reason for someone to spend precious money on an OS apart from DX10 & 11, when you got a working one already.
I'm not saying Vista (& more so Se7en) don't have their own advantages
but they are not free of drawbacks either even if not numerous.

You guys are running Windows? LOL! I still run DOS. Everyone knows games run faster in DOS.

ok, so the verdict at this stage is that :

1. You need ACTIVE DP->DVI adapter which costs $100 (still waiting on confirmation from someone who actually tried this)

2. You can not run crossfire with Eyefinity (which is totally absurd as it only makes sense that you would have 2 or more cards for 3+ screens)

I wonder if the 5870x2 will support Eyefinity and if they put proper DP port on it that wont require an active adapter.

3. ATi are 'actively working on a solution' to the DP problem and 'will have a solution in the near future'

Read into those para-phrases what you will. But I think that it won't be a problem forever and IMO CF will be up and running for the x2 launch.

I went ahead with the purchase of the first 2 of 5 projectors for my build. The projectors are DVI port, so I really want to know what they're going to end up doing about adapters.

i still havent gotten a tracking # from dell for the active DP > DVI adapter i purchased, however it does say in the confirmation email that "est. delivery is oct. 1st" - even though i paid for next day air shipping, i did order it on friday night, so im sure maybe this tues. or wednesday?
i'll let u guys know asap the second i hook it up.

also, ati did mention that ef will support cf in the future..
we'll see how that goes as well lol i dont mind running ef with 5870X2's in cf =)
