At this point I would say the cost and setup hassle is on par with the Matrox Th2g.

I choose the ATI route just because I can game in native 1920x1200.

I guess you are right about matrox not haveing to worrytoo much.

If you are happy with 5040x1050 (assuming your monitor can support it, of not then at 4320x900) then I don't see any advantages to Eyefinity

Yes u can game in 6x or 24x monitor with eyefinity. but who here will really do that?

Matrox have better support since it works in Win xp and have bezel/windows managment in already.

I'm not gonna discount the exyefnitiy as it is still and have teething problems like everything else.. but I'm sure it will get better.

the only thing I want now from it is damn bezel managmement.

Im already playing at triple 1920 using SoftTH, my main reason to upgrade is the pain in the ass it is to setup games with it and the really small compatibility list it has.
Im gonna have to wait until i can buy a new 24" display with displayPort to upgrade, by that time, the 5870 should have some price drops.

Please let us know... and in that picture are they using a DVI to HDMI converter after converting from DisplayPort to DL-DVI?

The worst part is:
people outside the US have no chance of obtaining that Dell adapter.
So I'm basically screwed. My 5870 is on its way, my 3 screens sit here waiting.
And there is just no way I'm gonna put them to use.
Think I will have to sell my 5870 and get me a 4870x2 + TH2G.
I have never been a fanboy of any company but what ATI did with that Eyefinity technology just heavily pushed me to the nvidia side.

yeah that is a HDMI > DVI adapter as well, if u look closely.. the dvi ports also have HDMI > DVI adapters.

i'll definitley post results the second i group all 3 displays and fire up left 4 dead.

"fingers crossed"

I dont' like that Dell 2408w screen. Awesome picture quality and connitivity but I perfer the fast response time and low input lag of my BenQ
and having 3 identical monitor is much nicer :)

Hope the Dell adapter works fine..

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and penis twisted

If anything as the cards are already on the market I wouldn't mind if ati just released their own adapter for something like >40 so we could snatch that up. In reality though I feel that they need a revision before releasing the 5870x2 and more unrealistically the 2gb model cards (I say unrealistically because I believe these cards are already manufactured and awaiting a release date) that would incorporate something to circumvent this issue entirely.

Also I purchased 3 asus 23' for this build and am quite sad that they will arrive and I will only be utilizing 2 of them. I expected that as I am using my 8800gtx until the 5870x2 hit market but still makes me sad that I will need to spend another $100 to utilize something I have already spent so much money on. My build was $3000 total including my accessories of course ;p "Keyboard I didn't need, mouse I didn't need, and a headset I didn't need lol" also all liquid cooled with a 480mm rad.
