I think people don't know much about P2P style matchmaking
for now it seems there's a few quirks about it, maybe they'll be able to solve it or maybe not and those will be long lasting issues
and maybe at some point people will become bored of such issues

From what I've read the game is fun and works well (mostly). However, even if it was voted Most Awesome Game Ever and had zero issues, it's still a significant step backwards in terms of multiplayer technology/features and accessibility (modding). As you noted, the question is "Who knows/cares about it?"
The entirely deceptive marketing campaign by IW is an additional issue.
