I currently have a decent gaming system. I run a single LG W3000H 30" IPS Panel @ 2560X1600
At the moment I have 2 nVidia GTX280's in SLI.
I am looking at picking up 2 more LG 30's to run a multi monitor surround gaming environment on.

I could wait until nVidia releases the new drivers to support surround gaming, which is June or July now apparently or sell the GTX's and pick up a single card solution (Mobo supports SLI but not CF)

The question is: What single card will allow me to run 3X30" (7680X1600) with most graphics options turned on. ?
Mostly iRacing, LOMAC FC2, DCS Black Shark, Microshaft FSX

I think you would be pushing your luck trying to get a single card solution to run 3x30'' with graphics on max, it'll depend on the games you play. It will be able to do it, but quality will depend on the game.

No single card will ever run that 7680x1600 resolution properly with high settings. Not even the next 2 generations of nvidia or ati gpus I presume.

Is anyone here running that high a resolution over 3 monitors ?
A friend of mine is powering 3X27's (but at 1920X1200) with a single 5870 and getting a steady 60+ FPS in all titles over 3 screens
So I thought I may be able to drive the 30's with a 5970 ? Just a thought

5760*1200 = 6,912,000 pixels
7680*1600 = 12,288,000 pixels

Thats why the answer is no.

I've done the math man, a thousand times ... Take a look at this Skid .... Skip to about the 5: minute mark of this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_ryCJKz1N8&feature=related

This is running on a single ATi 5870 !

Maybe someone else out there has experience with this ?

Left 4 Dead is not a massive taxing game on the graphics card, not by a long shot, hence my original comment of it depends on what game you play.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-cards-charts-2009-high-quality/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-1920x1200,Marque_fbrandx4,1834.html
Can't get the link to work properly because the url has square brackets in it, so select the 5870 and click compare.

A nice list for you, shows benchmarks on different standard 16:10 resolutions at high quality with anti aliasing on and off etc.

For example, the largest screen they test is 1920x1200, so 2.3m pixels, using the 5870 and Far Cry 2 as base point it, at max settings it runs at 74FPS. Now its worth remembering that the decrease in performance as screen size goes up is not 1 to 1 it can go ether way, it depends on the hardware and game, but for this we will assume it is.

7680*1600 = 12.3m pixels

12.3 / 2.3 = 5.35 times more pixels
74 / 5.35 = 13.83 FPS

Thanks for the replies Skid. Kinda sucks that I can't do what I want but it'll be cheaper for me to buy 3 nice 24's or even 28's that run at 1920X1200 anyway. Plus I'd still have my sweet 30" for another machine or as a 4th (2nd) monitor :)
Thanks again, appreciate the insight :)
