EA deserves every bit of the criticism that they are receiving. They continue to publish poor games and a very high rate with only profit margins in their scope. They are infamous for their unfair labor practices. They have become too large and have lost what credibility they had back when they were known as Electronic Arts.

They release a few good games, but that is the exception, not the rule. I attribute their successes more to the development houses than to EA themselves.

EA Sports has become a joke. When they bought the exclusive rights to the NFL, it was out of fear because they knew that other companies had a superior product (2k Games). The NBA Live franchise has been quickly going down-hill since around 2001.

The only part of gamers that EA is concerned about is their pocketbooks.

By the way, DICE is in no way absolved from blame. Dice was very innovative when they released BF1942 back in the day, but they are known for their games being released in terribly buggy states. BF2 and BF2142 are buggy and the subsequent patches often cause more problems than they solve. Add to that the now activated in-game advertisements are lame and pull you out of the game quicker than a power-outage. "The Future of Gaming... brought to you by McDonalds"... ugh...

Sorry if I sound like Cranky_Hermit, but damn, I can't believe someone is actually trying to defend EA.

I'm pretty sure that EA bought DICE a while back. Although since no one else has mentioned it yet, I'm not as sure as I was. I thought I read about it somewhere on EA's or DICE's site.

Yeah, I know. I did check it out after I posted this and yes EA has swallowed up DICE.

You know, I am hating EAs WS is a hack attitude. Why not disable 5.1 surround sound, for all the people that don't own 5.1 speakers?

I also had an Anti-EA attitude up until recently Ubisoft took the #1 spot. Sure, BF2 and 2142 might of been buggy and didn't support widescreen, but they were quality games (in my opinion). Ubisoft used to develop my favorite games... now they make all their games for the Xbox 360 and port a peice of crap that runs like crap on the PC. And least DICE's games run relativley well.

And, seriously. DDX shoulda used search but seriously. He asked a question in this thread... would it really break anyone's back to help him? You couldn't even give him a straight answer.

Its the same proceedure as BF2 (easily guessed as its the exact same game engine). Create a new Shortcut and right click it, click on properties and where it says target add somthing that resemblse the following

"C:Battlefield 2142 Beta" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

Its no different than the Battlefield 2 partial solution, i havn't tried any FOV editing as it is more than likely ineffective.

That's how you do it DDX. it allows you to run in the widescreen res of your choice, but it's Vert- meaning it crops off the top and bottom slightly.

Did you remove the video.con file after the monitor change? If not remove it and try again.(the video.con file does not get deleted in a reinstall of the game)

Ditto for me. I tried this fix and nothing. I thought it might be the sequence of deleting and updating the shortcut and nothing worked.
