AMD recently held a conference call to clear up concerns and misconceptions regarding its product roadmap for 2013. The bottom line is that they are focusing on the existing HD 7000 series for the better part of 2013, but will launch new products into the channel before the end of the year. The recent "Sea Islands" product roadmap is geared toward OEMs who turn out yearly product updates.

Is AMD's latest bundle any good? It's their second stab at a major bundle in just the last few months. In the latter part of 2012, AMD launched a marketing tie-in that bundled several games with its top end video cards. The one thing that stood out with this promotion is that the games were both (1) good, and (2) not old. To much surprise AMD's "Never Settle" bundle included then-current high profile titles such as Far Cry 3, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs and Medal of Honor: Warfighter with its AMD Radeon HD 7800 and 7900 series cards.
The whole reason to buy a new graphics card is to play newer games. The catch-22 is that after the purchase you often have little money left over to purchase said games. In the past, gaming bundles usually included lower end titles, or favorites of yesteryear. While it was great for a marketing campaign, these bundles often proven to have limited value for gamers. A good bundle to be the tipping point to splurging on a new card. And AMD is hoping you see things that way.

I'm pleased to announce that we are offering two new options. The first is a set of cable clips to help with cable management. This $10 kit provides four more bar clips, and three more pole clips. The second is a production quality mod to wall-mount a WSGF Edition Stand. The kit includes the pre-drilled pole and three sets of mounting hardware. The kit runs $50. Additionally, we are now offering stand-alone sales of our stand option kits. Previously these kits were only available as part of a stand or upgrade kit purchase. By adding the Option Shipping product to your cart, we can now cover shipping on stand-alone options.

Over the past few days we have been working to add the proper data elements to our games database, so that we can log support for 21:9 2560x1080 monitors. We have also added elements for testing the 2560x1080 resolution, as well as fields for the 21:9 support method (native, .ini edit. etc), HUD placement and whether the 21:9 aspect ratio introduces any unique anomalies into the game play.

I should have mentioned this much earlier, but I wanted to share with everyone the Pathfinder MMO Kickstarter. The game is being developed by Goblinworks, based on the Pathfinder rule set and game world. Pathfinder was created by Paizo publishing, and is considered by many to be "D&D 3.75e".
I'm a big fan of Paizo, and the Pathfinder rules. In addition to this great foundation, Goblinworks announced that Pathfinder MMO will be built on the Unity 3D engine. Based on our experience, the Unity 3D engine has excellent support for AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround.
If you're into "old school" roleplpaying, indie devs, MMOs, sandbox games, Eyefinity or Surround, then give the Kickstarter a look.

Now that CES has wrapped up, here are a few more articles and announcements that should be of interest to gamers.
More Oculus Rift - Engadget had an interview with the folks behind the upcoming VR headset. There was also additional news on playable demos and showcases, particularly the Epic Citadel.
More 4k Displays - Intel and the VESA DisplayPort group showed a new take on 4k displays - the "Collage". Shown off a Gigabyte motherboard, four 1080p displays were driven by two Thunderbolt ports, or a single DisplayPort 1.2 and MST hub. Panasonic showed off a prototype 4k tablet. The 20" device may never make it to production, but it does show that 4k resolutions can already be squeezed down to monitor sizes. TechGage also put out an article showcasing the different 4k resolutions and the need for a standard.
PC Hardware - InWin showed off some great new PC cases, the D-Frame and H-Frame. And famed art/tech house Art Lebedev Studio showed off their latest keyboard, the Optimus Popularis. The keyboard is fully customizable, with small screens for each key - think the Razer Blade for a full keyboard. The $1k price tag will keep it out of the mass market, but is hopefully a sign of what the "keyboard of tomorrow" will look like.
